About me

IMG_0404_edited.jpg

I'm just a southwest Florida mom who's soul dances with the waves of the ocean and loves all things natural and birthy. All my greatest ideas come alive when my toes are in the sand, when there's salt in the air and when the sun in on my skin. Sitting by the sea happens to be where the name for 'Carrie'd in Grace Revolutionary Birth Support was born.

My Philosophy

I believe labor and birth should be experienced just the way God intended it to be. Natural, organic, intuitive and untouched. Empowered, confident, strong and capable are words that should describe a laboring mother. Fear has no place in her sacred space. It is important to me that woman know that they have options outside of the mainstream norm. Birth is a normal process and does not need to routinely be treated as a medical emergency filled with unnecessary interventions and trauma. Labor to birth is an incredible and spiritually transformative  experience and as a birthkeeper it is my duty to hold the sacred space for you to be able to birth unhindered, your way.

My Story

Hi! :) I'm Raina, The Revolutionary Birthkeeper.

Most people call me Rae, but my most favorite name of all is Mommy.

In September of 2011, I became a first time momma at the very early age of 18 with my handsome son. My pregnancy was a fairly normal one and a quite beautiful time in my life, really. Although I was so young and freshly out of my parents house I was eager to start my journey into motherhood.

In January 2017, I became a second time momma to my beautiful daughter. I had another normal pregnancy and was excited for my son to have a sister.

Whilst both pregnancies were their own variation of "normal", each one came with their own set of events and vastly different outcomes. With my first born I went a very mainstream direction for my prenatal care and labor and delivery.

However, with my second child I went with a more traditional route having a midwife and doula instead of an OBGYN.

In the 5 years between my 2 children I had changed much of my lifestyle to a more naturally minded one. I chose to have a natural water birth with my daughter based on the knowledge I had acquired after having a traumatic hospital birth with my son.

It was the differing of these two experiences that opened my eyes and my heart to birth work. I spent much of my life trying to find my true calling. Something I had a burning passion for; and there it was staring me in the face that very early morning of my daughter's arrival earth side with big blue eyes. A passion that burned so fiercely I could feel it in my bones.

My hospital birth experience left me feeling defeated, hopeless, weak, dependent, fearful and anxiety ridden. Like a sick patient undergoing medical treatment. Meanwhile, my natural water birth left me feeling calm, peace, joy, love, empowerment, serenity, strength. Like an undisturbed momma undergoing something natural and beautiful.

You can read more about my journey into birth work in depth in my birth auto biography that will be linked here when it is finished and available  :)

Going into birth work isn't for the faint of heart. It's not something you do just as a hobby but as a passion. It's more than just a job.

It is Revolutionary and sacred work!
